Vanae (Iesha) Pate is a Dayton native with her artistic crafts in the performing arts;dance, theatre and song. She has had the pleasure to perform throughout the city of Dayton with companies such as Dayton Contemporary Dance Second Company, R.U.D.E and Dare to Defy just to name a few. Along with the her love to entertain, she also has a drive for change and education. During her early years of performing and teaching dance, she found her “groove” in reading and love for Black and African history and literature. It is no wonder how her path has led her to being apart of The Baldwin Cafe family. She feels it is in her blood to work for and with her community. She gives much praise to her parents who pushed her and her siblings to know who they are beyond music and entertainment, along with her ancestors, who have left a strong line of driven energetic little black kids that have grown into strong standing women and men of this country. Vanae mentions her Nana(Sylvia Pate) as a reminder that she was made for this. As Baldwin Cafe continues to grow Vanae will continue to do her part and spread the light of knowledge and self worth throughout the black community and help bridge the gaps surrounding.
